In accordance with Irish Sailing and wider Government policy, Galway Bay Sailing Club will not be running any training courses for the foreseeable future. Should future scheduled training events and courses be required to be cancelled or postponed in line with this policy, transfer to a similar course at a later date will be offered and if this does not suit, a full refund will be given. We will continue to take online bookings for junior summer here and we hope to be able to run a summer programme as soon as it is safe for both staff and trainees to do so.

Junior Summer Courses
New for 2020! Cara Na Mara
Cara Na Mara is an on the water and shoreside training programme that delivers the basics sailing skills, seamanship, environmental awareness and science for 6 to 10 year olds.
The course, developed by Irish Sailing, is a child-focused approach to introducing sailing to children, allowing them to discover, explore and practice the skills and knowledge they will need as sailors while under the leadership and supervision of Irish Sailing qualified instructors and within an Irish Sailing recognised training centre. There is a strong emphasis on allowing the sailors to appreciate and enjoy the water and outdoor environment safely.
The skills and knowledge tie into the National School Curriculum.
Galway Bay Sailing Club is delighted to be the first Irish Sailing Training Centre to offer this course in the Galway Bay area. Split into small age appropriate groups of Otters (6-7 yrs), Seals (7-9yrs), Orcas (8-10yrs) and Dolphins (9-11yrs), the week-long Cara Na Mara programme combines shore-based marine and environmental awareness activities together with on-the-water sail training making it the ultimate fun yet educational summer sailing course available. The courses commence on July 5th running throughout the month of July only and, as course numbers are limited, early booking is advised.
