Dinghy Sailing at Galway Bay Sailing Club

GBSC dinghy sailing is a mix of seasoned sailors, multihull speed merchants, up and coming competitive youths and pleasure boating sailors happy to simply be on the water.

Our dinghy sailing takes place within the Renville Bay area which is a relatively sheltered part of Galway Bay and our safety RIBs provide support and assistance.

Sailing a dinghy involves all the fundamental skills of sailing and is an affordable, safe and fun way to get sailing either as helm or crew.

We welcome new sailors whether they are new to sailing or experienced sailors ready to join the fleet.

Club dinghy sailors frequently require crew on dinghies which offers new sailors a great way to learn and gain experience on the water.

Learning

Our Intro to Sailing course provides an opportunity to learn the basic skills and get started in the dinghy group. Details are posted in the Training page.

More informal non-competitive fun sailing takes place on Friday evenings during summer months.

If you would like to sail but don't own your own boat, club dinghies are available to hire to members during sailing sessions on Tuesday and Friday evenings.

The club has a fleet of Topaz and RS Feva dinghies available for use by members who have a basic competency to sail.
