GBSC hosted a training regatta for 420s to coincide with the Mirror Westerns held at the club over the weekend of 29th-30th April. Nine local crews participated including three boats taking part in their first regatta. Race Officer for the weekend was Margot Cronin under the watchful eyes of Dave Vinnell and Astrid Plaas.
Weather for the event was varied with racing abandoned after two races on Saturday as the gentle Northerly breeze faded away forcing a quick shortening of the course. In contrast Sunday brought a stiff Westerly with a one metre swell in the bay that proved challenging for the Silver Fleet boats and again brought an early end to racing after two races as the damage list and number of retiring boats grew longer.
