Junior Sailing Sunday 12th March

Hi all,

We are not off to a very good start this year ! Forecast last weekend was pretty awful and we had to cancel on Saturday morning. Ultimately, it turned out to be a great morning but turned nasty for the dinghy's in the afternoon when all races were cancelled. This week we have no instructors due to an inter-varsity sailing event but have tried to ensure we get as many juniors out as possible with the help of qualified club volunteers.

Therefore, this Sunday 12th March, we have arranged the following :

Senior Optimist fleet - Conor Lyons has agreed to take this fleet

Junior Optimist fleet - John Collins has agreed to take this fleet

Feva/Topper fleet - No sailing this weekend

Weather forecast is for North-westerly winds of between 16 to 17kts gusting 21kts and dropping throughout the morning and dry. Temperatures are forecast at 9-10 degrees so make sure kids are adequately dressed for the weather. As always, be aware that weather is subject to change.

Plan to be at the club by 10am and rigged and ready to launch for 10:30.

As usual, we are looking for volunteers for the following this weekend :-

  • 1-2 people for wet launching and retrieving boats. (in water)

  • 1-2 people for dry launching and retrieving boats. (on pier)

  • 1 person to get milk for hot chocolate

  • 1 person to make goodies for after sailing

  • Someone to collect money and register boats/kids

This week will be a one-off charge of €10 per child and we will move to the 5 week block the following weekend when everyone is back together again.

Any updates/changes will be emailed and put on the Facebook page.

See you on Sunday.

Regards,

Paul McGrady
