Hi All,
Just a short note about the IMA Western Regatta held in the club last weekend 18 and 19 June.We had a great turnout of twenty catamarans racing over both days. Entries came from Kerry, Mayo, Ballyholme, Swords, Blessington, and GBSC. We had a total of eight races over the weekend and the word back from the visitors was that they enjoyed their time at GBSC.
Many people helped out on and off the water. Special mention must be given to Race Officer David Vinnel and his team for running all the races so smoothly.Thomas Furey gave us Rocador to use as the committee boat.Rib drivers and helpers included Conor Lyons, John Barry, Marcel and Paddy Cure, Pat Irwin and Cillian McHugh. Caroline O'Reilly did a great job with the food over both days. Aaron in the bar kept everyone from getting thirsty. Club officers Alan Donnelly and John Murphy were very helpful in the week before the event. Our Commodore Gary Allen took all the entries, handled all the results for the weekend and did the prize giving on Sunday. He quietly made sure that everything was done properly and I am very thankful for his help. If I have left someone out that I should have mentioned I am sorry.
GBSC competitors were Tim,Aaron,Tom,Gerry,Eric,Ger Hogan,Astrid,Rogerio,Tony,Kevin,Brian Murphy, David O'Reilly and David Carberry.
Thanks everyone,
Kevin
